Choose Your Distribution Method
zensurveys offers 8 ways to distribute surveys. Pick the one that matches how you want to reach your customers:
Quick Setup: Website Feedback
Your site visitors see a feedback survey after browsing your content.
- Open your survey and click the Distribution tab
- Select Website Overlay
- Choose your display style:
- Position: Bottom right works for most sites
- Timing: Show after 30 seconds
- Appearance: Chat style feels friendly and approachable
- Set who sees it:
- Show to visitors who've viewed 2+ pages (they're engaged)
- Wait 7 days before showing again
- Click Copy Code
- Send the code to your web team with this note: "Please add this before the closing body tag on our website"
Your survey goes live once your web team adds the code. Expect responses within 24 hours

Common Questions
The survey isn't showing on my website
Check with your web team that the code was added correctly. The survey also won't show if someone already answered it recently (based on your frequency settings).
Can I test the survey before customers see it?
Yes. Use the Preview function in the survey editor. You can also set up a test campaign with just your email address.
How do I know if people are seeing the survey?
Your Distribution settings page shows view counts. If you see views but no responses, consider shortening your survey or adjusting when it appears.
Can I change settings after the survey is live?
Yes. Changes take effect immediately, but won't affect surveys already loaded in someone's browser.
What if someone can't access the survey link?
Check that your survey is published (not in draft mode). Also verify the link wasn't shortened or modified – zensurveys URLs are case-sensitive.
Tips for Better Response Rates
Timing matters. Show website surveys after people engage with your content, not immediately. For emails, send Tuesday through Thursday between 10am-2pm in your recipients' timezone.
Keep it short. Surveys with 3-5 questions get completed far more often than longer ones.
Be specific. "How was your checkout experience?" gets better feedback than "How was your experience?"
Follow up. When someone gives a low score, reach out within 24 hours if possible.
Test on mobile. Over 60% of survey responses happen on phones. Make sure your survey looks good on small screens.
